This section of our website will go over everything you need to know about this wonderful breed, including: coat colors, coat types, generations of Bernedoodles we offer, and specific care requirements for the breed.
Your Bernedoodle will need to be kept on a regular grooming schedule for a clean, healthy coat. At Granite Ridge Bernedoodles, we recommend getting your pup groomed every 6-8 weeks. Below is what your Doodle's grooming schedule should look like:
Full body cut: Every 6-8 weeks
Full face trim: Every 2 weeks
Bath: Once per month
Nail trim: Monthly
PRO-TIP: When you have a puppy, make sure to get them used to the scissors, bath, and nail trimming right away! At Granite Ridge Bernedoodles, we begin to desensitize our puppies to grooming as early as one week old to help prepare the puppy for it in the future, as well as make it easier on our families when it's grooming time!
Bernedoodles are considered a mild to moderately active breed, so it's important that their daily exercise needs are met! Here are some great physical activities that most Bernedoodles enjoy.
1. Long walks
2. Hiking
3. Dog parks
4. Trips to the pet store, Low's, and Fleet Farm (all dog-friendly options!)
5. Lake/swimming
6. Interactive games
7. Car rides
NOTE: Don't forget that training your dog daily will not only help with their overall behavior, but it will tire them out as well.
Bernedoodles are known for their goofy, friendly personality! However, it's EXTREAMLY important that you properly socialize your puppy in order for them to become the friendliest, best behaved dog possible! We send our new puppy owners home with a puppy socialization chart for guidance, and will help guide you through the socialization period with your new puppy.
