When it comes to the Bernedoodle breed, there are a large variety of coat types. A few of the most common include Furnished, Ultra-furnished, and Un-furnished.
Furnished: A Furnished Bernedoodle has a wavy coat, giving those fluffy, loose curls. Bernedoodles with this coat type tend to have fluffier hair around the muzzle, eyes, and legs.
Ultra-furnished: A Ultra-furnished Bernedoodle has a more tight curl coat, giving the classic Doodle-like appearance. Due to this coat, the Ultra-furnished Bernedoodle is the best option for individuals with allergies.
Un-furnished: A Un-furnished Bernedoodle has a straight coat, resembling the Bernese mountain dog furnishings rather than the Poodle. This type of coat does carry the shedding gene in Doodles.
Bernedoodles are known for their sweet, fun-loving personality. These dogs are a family-friendly, loyal breed, and will form a deep attachment to their people. In order for your Berne pup to become the most friendly they can be, it's very important to properly socialize your them. Here at GRB, we begin early socialization with our puppies to ensure they know that world is a safe place, and helps to prepare them for experiences they will have in their everyday life.
The Poodle and Bernese Mountain Dogs are both very active breeds. Being a cross of these, Bernedoodles need intentional daily physical activity to live a long, happy life. We recommend one hour per day minimum of physical activity. A few activities we have found that Bernedoodles highly enjoy are long walks, hiking, swimming, and going for runs.
Like every Doodle, your Bernedoodle will need to be kept on a 10-12 week grooming schedule to keep their coat looking beautiful. In addition to getting your dog groomed on a consistent schedule, it's equally as important to put in the work of daily brushing! Visit our page titled puppy supplies list for our recommended at-home grooming products.
Your Bernedoodle will need daily mental activities to prevent boredom, and destructive behaviors. They aren't being naughty-- they need mental stimulation! This breed has a high intelligence level inherited by the Poodle gene which means they require training and mental activities daily to thrive. We recommend one brain game puzzle, or other problem solving game daily using food/treats to get them motivated, and to get that brain activated! In addition to food activities, daily training is equally important,. We recommend 30-40 minutes of intentional training with you pup per day.
